Cleaning the brace
Your brace comes into contact with your sweat during use and gets dirty in everyday life. Therefore, you should clean it regularly. How often depends on your use and activities. Daily cleaning does not hurt. Wipe it with a clean cloth and use ph-neutral soaps (e.g. your shower gel). For a more thorough cleaning you can also put your brace in the shower and rinse it off.
1. Clean your brace regularly, ideally daily.
2. Use a clean cloth and ph-neutral soap.
3. Rinse your brace in the shower for extra thorough cleaning.
Regular adjustment
In addition to regular cleaning, the fit of your brace should also be checked regularly. Sudden pressure points on bony prominences or unusual areas or insufficient breathing room may be signs that the fit needs adjustment. You should also make a check-up appointment with your orthopaedic technician if there is a lot of overlap or no overlap at all between the parts of the brace and if you have grown more than 3cm. You should visit him at least every 3 months for a check-up. There, the brace will be optimally adjusted to you again. This is especially important during the main growth phase.
Checking the additional padding and Velcro fastenings
Please also regularly check the additional padding and, if available, any adjustments made especially for you. The protective and corrective pads can sometimes come loose and affect the function of your brace. If they become detached or very dirty, you can have them replaced by your orthopaedic technicians or our partners. The same applies to the Velcro fasteners. If the Velcro fasteners are dirty, they cannot close the brace tightly enough. Please make sure that they do not become loose when worn. You can prolong the life of the Velcro fasteners by always closing them, even when you are not wearing your brace.
